PSTS wins the Best Stevedore of the Year for an unprecedented 6^th consecutive year

Honoured with the title, Stevedore of the Year, for sixth time in a row, at the 11^th South East CEO Conclave & Awards function held at 'ITC Grand Chola' on 3^rd July, 2019 in Chennai. PSTS Logistics retained the top position in South East India, both in terms of volume as well as growth.

PSTS wins Business Family House of the Year award 2019

PSTS has been voted "Business Family House of the Year 2019" award at the 11^th South East CEO Conclave & Awards functions held at 'ITC Grand Chola' on 3^rd July, 2019 in Chennai. Award was received by Mr. Uday Sankar, Chairman & Managing Director, a second generation family member, together with third generation family members, Mr. Ganeshram, Mr. Kannaram and Mr. Giriram. Established in 1940, PSTS was founded by a visionary entrepreneur Mr. PSTS Thiraviaratnam, who even before Indi's independence foresaw the need for professional shipping management in his native land – India's South Eastern Port of Tuticorin, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

Logistics Sector Skill Council invites Mr. J Ganesh Ram to join the Governing Council.

Mr. J Ganesh Ram, JMD, PSTS Logistics Private Limited, has been invited to join the Governing Council of Logistics Sector Skill Council, created in 2014 by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and CII as a not for profit organisation, as an executive member.

CII National Packaging Conference - Strategic Advantage through Packaging

Mr. J Ganesh Ram, (JMD, PSTS Logistics) spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the National Packaging Conference, which aims to cover various key aspects of packaging from technology, trends, innovation & newer business model etc. and will facilitate as a strong platform for stakeholders to discuss the opportunities in the packaging sector that will support the industrial growth.

CII organised a Conference on Last mile connectivity challenges in Chennai Exim Trade Logistics

Mr J Ganesh Ram (JMD, PSTS Logistics Private Limited), Chairman, Taskforce on Logistics, CII Chennai Zone, chaired the event.

The main objective of the conference was to understand and improve the logistics infrastructure in and around Chennai and its hinterland & understand the Exim trade’s challenges in last mile connectivity and port facilities and to create solutions for them.

PSTS attended Freight Forwarding conference held in Bangkok from 25 to 27th April. Conference offered gateway to China based forwarders, specialists in their respective field of operations.

PSTS attends Breakbulk China

PSTS attended Breakbulk China (26-28 March), held in Shanghai. Breakbulk China is the largest conference and exhibition in Asia addressing the needs of traditional breakbulk and project cargo logistics. PSTS has been attending the Breakbulk China event for last 3 years which has helped in successfully augmenting business volumes, especially for steel products and project cargo.

PSTS attends Break Bulk Europe, Bremen

PSTS attended Breakbulk Europe Event (29-31 May), held in Bremen Germany. For more than a decade, Breakbulk Europe has served as the networking hub for industry professionals who do business in Europe.

Trip was further extended to make visits to Port facilities of our European counterparts in Portugal and Spain which resulted in new flow of regular project cargo arriving in Chennai and Mumbai.

PSTS attended ‘Breakbulk Europe’ that was held in Antwerp, Belgium. It was the largest event in the world for Project Cargo and Break-bulk industry.
Over 5000 particpants were networking with the exhibitors and sponsors apart from listening to the Industry experts and leading shippers from around the world.

PSTS attended international freight forwarding conference organized by Security Cargo Network in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as one of the long-standing member from India. Conference was attended by over 150 delegates from 80 different countries to discuss business opportunities and specific projects across table. PSTS has attended 5th annual conference in the series. As of today PSTS ships hundreds of air and sea shipments each month from Chennai, Delhi, Punjab, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Vizag as preferred nominated forwarder for some of the biggest buyers in Germany, Spain, USA, UAE, Australia and New Zealand. PSTS also imports lot of shipments from Germany, China and USA on end-to-end basis. PSTS has expertise across all major commodities viz. machinery, garments, white goods, tyres, steel products, chemicals, bulk cargo in containers, etc.

PSTS has successfully entered coastal shipping services in Tuticorin and New Mangalore Port

Shipment of goods in containers by coastal mode has picked up in a big way in the last few years. PSTS has also joined this band wagon by moving tiles, cotton, sanitaryware, machinery in conrtainers from Coast of Gujarat to New Mangalore and Tuticorin Port through container vessels operated by Sai Shipping, SIMA Tech and Sreyas Shipping.

PSTS attended Adani Group’s first ever International Trade meet in Shanghai, China as one of the guests from India. This event was organized by Adani Group to boost its position as world class port and infrastructure company by showcasing its incredible journey and milestones achieved in such a short period of time. The meet brought together buyers, suppliers, shipping and freight service providers from both countries and offered much relaxed atmosphere to discuss business opportunities.

PSTS attended Breakbulk China 2017 in Shanghai, the largest breakbulk and project cargo conference and exhibition in Asia. PSTS has been handling breakbulk and project cargo for well over 30 years now, both as stevedores as well as landside logistics service provider. PSTS is establishing new niche in project handling & forwarding activities for both international and coastal shipping requirements of its client. Most of its services are backed by necessary in-house infrastructure and assets to meet the competitive demands of the industry, viz. 25,000 square meters of open land with overhead gantry & heavy-lift cranes, industrial packaging/repackaging services, transportation of heavy-lift and ODC packages, lifting gears for vessel loading operations, etc. PSTS has attended third breakbulk event in the series in last one year and planning to showcase its history in the upcoming global breakbulk events as an exhibitor.

Multi-Port Challenges in Business, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Chennai

Chennai region is expected to handle 3.5 million TEUs by 2023 and 5 million TUEs by 2030, if GDP Growth remains consistent at 7%, purported by Capt C.V. Ramnath of Adani Kattupalli Port while justifying additional capacity crated by Adani Group in Chennai region despite the fact that actual container throughput is less than 2 million TEUs. Views were expressed at a conference on Multi-Port Challenges in Business, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Chennai on 2nd Sep 2016.

Seminar was marked by the presence of the dignitaries who are at the helm of the affairs at Ports, Regulatory bodies and Government policies. Mr. N. Muruganandam, Managing Director, Indian Ports Association (IPA) set the tone of the one day conference by sharing performance related facts of major ports. He stated that "the port sector in India is doing very well in last two years, particularly major ports have registered a turnaround in the last financial year and have increased their market share substantially." Kamarajar Port was appreciated for its overall performance and quoted as most profitable port among all major ports in India. Mr. M.A. Bhaskarachar, Chairman, Kamarajar Port elaborated further that port is aiming to have 18 meter draught by next year and this would enhance the capacity of the port to handle 60 million tonnes of cargo. In last fiscal, Year 2015-16, port has surpassed the target by handling 32.20 MMT.

Mr. Pranab Kumar Das (IRS), Chief Commissioner of Customs, Chennai Customs Zone, assured the trade of more relaxed regulations and stressed upon the AEO program which can be a game changer in the customs-users relationship. He prayed users to take full benefit of revised AEO program and enroll themselves as soon as possible.

Dr. Bart De Groof, Counsel General, Consulate General of the Kingdom of Belgium, shared presentation about how logistics is being done at Port of Antwerp. The presentation was exemplary for guests to understand how efficiently hinterland is served by the Antwerp port, making best use of rail, road, and river & canal waterways.

Mr. S. Anantharaman, Chief Operating Manager, Souther Railways shared current and future outlook of Railways while accepting the fact that rail freight tariff needs further rationalization for short distance connectivity so that EXIM trade can switch from road to railways.

Mr. J. Ganeshram, Joint Managing Director, PSTS Logistics summed up the conference by highlighting key points made out by the dignitaries while justifying the relevance of theme of the conference. Mr. Ganesh Ram is also acting as Chairman, Taskforce on Logistics , CII Chennai Zone.

Beside others, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, General Manager, Kamarajar Port Ltd; Mr. S. Narasimhan, Managing Director, Sattava Logisitics; Ms. Vinita Venkatesh, Director, Krishnapatnam Port; Mr. V.P Subash, Branch head, Relay Shipping Agency Ltd; marked the presence.

PSTS attended Breakbulk Europe 2016, world’s largest exhibition and conference for the project & breakbulk cargo, held in Antwerp, Belgium from 24-26th April 2016. Event was attended by over 7000 participants and over 360 exhibitors from around the world displayed their services.

PSTS celebrates Family Day on 26th January every year!

PSTS strongly believes in "Championing Customer Delight". Not only external clients, it also considers the family behind all the employees as their internal customer. By giving an opportunity for them to get to know what PSTS does, and about the industry, will help them become aware of their family member's critical role in the company. This will eventually foster a feeling of fraternity. And what better way to delight them than giving quality time? How about giving a day especially for the family? So PSTS decided to mark Jan 26 as PSTS FAMILY DAY.

PSTS Family Day 2008 was celebrated in a resort. The day was filled with gifts, games,magic show,feast and felicitation with mementos for all members of the PSTS family. Interesting games like Musical Chair for the Couple, Role Play of Tarzan and Lady Dada were conducted among three teams (viz) "Pulikesi" ,"Saroja Samaan Nikhalo" and "Makaan' - these weird names were given by the respective team to themselves!!!. Children, spouse and everybody joined the fun and frolic that lasted till evening!

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have played a significant role in India's social and economic development. As a tribute to their commendable performance, Dun & Bradstreet (D&B), the world's leading provider of business information, knowledge and insight and Axis Bank, the third largest private sector bank in India, felicitated the leading SMEs from various sectors in the country through the 'Business Gaurav SME Awards 2011'. It is an attempt to recognize the leading SMEs across 12 sectors in the micro, small and medium enterprise category. A total of 37 awards were given across all the 12 sectors This initiative, they believe, will act as a platform for showcasing the achievements of model players, thus encouraging their development in the years to come.

In the light of this, PSTS Logistics received an intimation in the first week of Nov.2011 saying, "It gives us great pleasure to inform you that your esteemed company PSTS Logistics Private Limited has been selected as the Best Medium Enterprise in the sector Logistics for the 'D&B – Axis Bank Business Gaurav SME Awards 2011'. PSTS receives ISO 9001:2008 Certification from TUV SUD America!

Both the group companies of PSTS – PSTS LOGISTICS PVT.LTD and PSTS HEAVY LIFT & SHIFT LTD have been given ISO certification for implementing a Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 in their respective operations.

PSTS provides Karaikal Port Management Services

Karaikal port is a new deep sea water porter being constructed in Vanjore near Karaikal, Puducherry. The port development is carried out by Karaikal Port Private Ltd. (KPPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MARG Limited aligning with Pembianaan Redzai Sdn Bhd of Malaysia.

PSTS provides complete logistics in handling various cargos like coal, cement, pet coke, sugar and project cargo. The handling operation commenced in July 2009.

PSTS tastes raw sugar in Karaikal Port!

To remedy the current sugar shortage, the Government of India initiated measures to support imports of raw sugar by the mills against future export commitments. Indian mills are finding it advantageous to import raw sugar to process and sell in the domestic market, as domestic sugar prices are currently well above the international prices, even after accounting for processing, transportation, and distribution costs, and future export obligations. The vessel MV Nord Maru arrived in the Port of Karaikal with 45,600 MT of raw sugar. PSTS provided stevedoring, bagging of cargo into two ton jumbo bag, storage and delivery of raw sugar for the first time!

PSTS expands operation in Bangalore and in Kochi

With the view to offer comprehensive service and also be closer to the customer, PSTS opens new offices in Bangalore on 19th Apr 2008 and in Kochi on 6th June 2008.

Mr.Govindarajan is the new Branch Manager of PSTS Bangalore . Mr.Unni Krishnan is the new Branch Manager of PSTS Kochi.

Mr.Venkatramani, who coordinates the new branch initiatives attended the inaugural ceremony in both the locations. While Mr.Sathish Kumar , Executive Director, attended the Bangalore event, Mr.TJGiriram, Joint Director, attended Kochi event.

PSTS erects a Gantry in the Port of Chennai

PSTS erects a 40 ton gantry with a 30m span having a cantilever projection of 9m on either side – one of its kind in South India. This will facilitate more efficient cargo feeding, direct unloading from the wagon , help maximum utilization of storage space and of course enables Customer Delight!.
